Holy Family Catholic Church

Come celebrate One Generation Away’s movement to wipe hunger off the face of America!

This free breakfast event will support our nonprofit as we rescue surplus food from grocery stores, restaurants, and caterers and distribute it to our neighbors experiencing food insecurity. Speaker, storyteller, and self-described “hope dealer” Carlos Whittaker will share a special message with our community, and our founder and executive director Chris Whitney will share about our service over the past year.

Come to the table, and join the movement!

Speakers

Carlos Whittaker

Carlos Whittaker is an author, speaker, and self-described “hope dealer.”

He moved to Nashville in 2009 after signing a recording deal with Integrity Music, but three gospel albums into his music career, he decided to switch gears and write books and speeches instead of songs.

“I know it’s a little backwards. People normally move to this town to make it in music. Little did I know that I moved to this town to make it as a speaker who motivates people to live their lives to the fullest,” Carlos said.

His first speaking gig was the Easter Prayer Breakfast at the White House (talk about starting off with a bang), and he has written three books: “Moment Maker,” “Kill the Spider,” and most recently “Enter Wild.” He has also won a People’s Choice Award for his social media content.

Melissa Thomas

Melissa Thomas is the executive director of The Branch of Nashville, an Antioch nonprofit that operates a food pantry and an ESL program. The Branch was founded in 2013 as an offshoot of a disaster relief group that aided families impacted by the 2010 flood. While The Branch began as a food pantry only, the team launched an ESL program after recognizing that many who were coming to the pantry faced language barriers.
